Renting Your Home? Here’s How To Landscape Your Yard

Rental Home Landscaping Cutout Grass

When you’re renting a home, you don’t always have the liberty to decorate or design to your preferences. While some landlords will allow for limited redecorating, such as painting the interior, most of them prefer you leave it as is. The same thing can be said about the exterior of the home, specifically, the landscaping. How can you make the landscaping of your yard feel like your own when you are renting? Here are a few ideas:

Accessorize

There are some additions you can make to your landscape that are subtle, yet still add some color and spice. Large pots with plants, for example, are not necessarily a permanent change, but can definitely beautify your landscape. Try adding a new bird feeder or birdbath in a prominent place in your yard and see the difference it will make. Depending on how much work you want to put into it and how long you will be living at the home, you may even put in a fountain or special lighting to really add to the look and feel of your yard.

Grow a Garden

Find an unused plot somewhere in the yard or use large pots to plant your own vegetable garden. Gardens are a great way to liven up your yard and provide hours of entertainment. There is something very rewarding about growing your own vegetables and you will find that it helps to make the home feel more like you.

Maintain What You Have

Even if you weren’t the one who originally designed or installed the current landscape, you might find that you can become fond of it by spending time taking care of it. Keep your lawn mowed neatly, bushes and trees trimmed and the yard free of weeds. A nice, clean looking yard helps keep your house looking more homey and inviting.
