Nothing is more unsightly on a lawn than the brown and grey patches the sun burns into our grass. We all know how hard maintaining a perfectly lush green lawn can be here in Arizona. Is artificial or real grass the answer to a perfect lawn then? Here are a few pros and cons to both kinds of grass.
Artificial Grass
Artificial grass has many benefits to those who want to have their grass look perfect 24/7 with very little maintenance. This grass is made of plastic. Except for a few spots that may need trimming, it will look the same way it did during installation. There may be a slight color variation depending on it’s time in the sun or in the shade. However, some people can’t get over the fact that their grass isn’t actually grass, but plastic instead. This also means the grass is hotter to stand on or plant near, as natural grass absorbs the heat, and the plastic does not.
Natural Grass
Natural grass might require more attention and work, but still has it pro’s over the artificial stuff. If your spend a lot of time gardening and need the natural elements to foster an environment that your plants can thrive in, artificial grass might have the adverse effect. Since plastic – especially in the heat – can release chemicals, it’s important to think about how that might hinder the environment you’re planting your food or florals in.
