It’s that wonderful time of the year again when the weather beckons us to get outside and have some fun with friends and family. For many of us, this is when barbecue season kicks off. This gives us all the perfect excuse to work on getting our backyards in tip top shape so we can host the perfect barbecue.
Here are a few things to consider as you work to get ready for a backyard barbecue:
Focus on Your Lawn
The lawn and the condition of the grass are the very first things people tend to focus on when they walk into a yard. Be sure to have your lawn looking great by taking care of yellow spots and rejuvenating patches that took the winter weather the hardest. Now is a good time to use fertilizer and other products to get your lawn looking green and lush.
Shrubs and Flowers
It’s sometimes easy to let the maintenance of the shrubs and flowers in our backyards become intimidating because we don’t always know the best way to care for them. The truth is, pruning plants is much easier than we think it is and can make a huge difference in the overall health and appearance of the landscaping in the backyard.
Clean Up Patios and Walkways
Winters can take a toll on not only the vegetation in our backyards, but also the hardscaping, such as patios and walkways. Take some time to give them a good power wash or sweeping to insure they are looking good for your barbecue.
Decorate with Planters and Pots
Are you a gardening novice? You can still add some amazing color and texture to your backyard by planting flowers and other plants in ceramic pots and planters. You may find that you have more of a creative streak in you than you thought. Adding these type of decorations in your backyard helps to create beauty and atmosphere.
Before you officially kick off your first springtime barbecue, be sure you are prepared with the right outdoor furniture so your guests have a place to sit. Clean up the chairs and tables you already have with a fresh coat of paint or a good scrubbing. It may even be time to replace the old stuff with something new.
